STORM CLOUDS OVER MOUNT RUSHMORE—
composed after seeing the documententary,
RED CRY . . .

Crowning achievement in a heartless genocide,
An imperial attempt to eradicate whole peoples
Like one might attempt to eradicate all the rats
In the dank cellars of Amsterdam, O Jefferson, you

Great hypocrite, an Empire of Liberty, yes,
with two sides to the coin...

Cheap doggerel of the poetry of power,
The great forked tongue of the energy of enlightenment,
Great confluence, great confusion of meanings,

Where Voltaire's "I might disagree with what you say,
But defend to the death your right to say it,"
Gnashes teeth in a vicious vortex with every word spoken,

Every treaty signed, and every hand shaken,
Now the broken arrow of disgrace and dishonor,
Hammered into pure granite for all for eternity to see.
