HEALTHY WHITEBARK PINES at 2500 m. (Pinus albicaulis), South Wallowas . . .

Whitebark Pines are in trouble around the mountains
of the Northwest. For me, they have become a sentinel species
because they are not only the grandest and, in my view, most
beautiful of pines to reach the upper limits of treeline—even
in death the sun-bleached white snags stand tall for centuries—
but also, like wounded watchful elders, these Nestors of the
high-country
are sounding a dire message of warning.

This p/p DIALOGUE RESOURCE PAGE is a gathering together
of films that might help us listen to what the Whitebarks are saying.
It is also a kind of mirror of ourselves, as we reflect upon our own
response to what we see.

To protect the beautiful,

Study the ugly.

THE TREE OF LIFE & IHSV [In Hoc Signo Vences]

(i) One of the ugliest and most brutal images of all time
is that of the Crucifixion. Essentially, it is the image of
nailing suffering to the wholly natural and—in and of itself,
regardless of how we think about it—sacred, tree of life.
It is time to take this suffering down;

(ii) "The way to the Lord is only through me." Be simple.
Whoever says this, is not a savior, but a dictator;

(ii) The cross of Christianity is the sign of violent subjugation;
it is the sign of the attempted conquest and colonization of
spiritual life. In this sign you will conquer; true, and, in this
sign, an idea that should have disappeared centuries ago
most certainly shall now self-destruct.

ALL RELIGIONS ARE TRUE /
ALL RELIGIONS ARE FALSE

All religions are true insofar as they attempt to attune and
align the spiritual being of humankind with something greater
then itself, with something divine; And all religions are false,
insofar as the very thing they attempt to do, they make to
varying degrees impossible. Clearly, we need to transcend
this contradiction with something totally new.
