Flowering Dogwood, drupes . . . . (Cornus florida) Native to North America.

Look how the Flowering Dogwood seems to be asking us to
notice not its wonderful spring blossoms, but now, with an early
display of autumn color, its handsome fruits as well.

Officially, they are called stone fruits, or that other strange
sounding term in English (because it is pronounced the
same as the unrelated droop...), the humble drupe.
