Flowering Roadside Teasel . . . (Dipsacus sylvatica)
Introduced from Europe.
The flowers begin opening in a band at the center of the spike, and then
move
progressibely towards the top and bottom, new flowers appearing every
day.
(This particular plant is almost finished flowering.)
Teasel is a biennial, and is not a Thistle or Composite, as one might at
first
think; it's a member of its own family.
