may trillium

Thinking Ahead, May Trillium . . . (Trillium grandiflorum)  While out on a Spring
walk, sometimes it's good to think ahead a bit. The canopy above is still open, and on the
bottom story of oak-beech-tuliptree forest one sees fresh green leaves coming up.
Soon the flowers will be there, too! Who ever came up with the thought that April
is the cruelest month? Who would want to teach that to a child?
