mayapple

Mayapple, new leaves. . . (Podophyllum peltatum)  On a stormy, overcast early spring day,
it's a beautiful sight to come upon a little understory 'forest' of Mayapples. The leaves are striking smooth,
paired and umbrella-like. Also known as American Mandrake. Fruits edible, which is the source
of the common name. Native to North America)
