Swamp White Oak, new leaves. . . (Quercus bicolor)
A relatively slow -growing, long-lived (300 + years) native
of North America. The specific name, bicolor, refers to the contrast
between the dark green of the upper leaf
and the whitish lower surface. (Leaves normally flush in late spring.)
