Rudbeckias, or Blackeyed Susans . . . (Rudbeckia hirta) . . . Here in a forest
opening, the appearance of these striking flowers is a sure sign that the
phenological or natural clock of the seasons has moved to the hot and drier
part of high summer. A native of North America.
