Just back at my base in Richland & Eagle Valley from a
2,200 K tour on bike and snowhoes of Central Oregon,
anxious to process hundreds of new photos, I've had
the great good fortune to witness some of the peak
of spring flowers in the high sagebrush steppe to the

This is a talk given by Dr. Lonnie Thompson in December of 2007 at
the annual meeting of the American Geophysical Union. Dr. Thompson
is a senior research scientist at the Byrd Polar Center at Ohio State University.

This is an address which deserves serious and sustained attention by all
those passionately concerned about Climate Chaos, and especially those
with an eye to the quickly disappearing alpine ice fields of the Earth.
