Can Culture!! . . . Many times what we leave
behind defines more truly what and who we are than the creative works
we would project out into the world. If the difficulty which the environmental
movement faces could had to be summed
up in a single icon, the throw away can would do nicely. For it could be
argued that the can and what it represents
might be done away only if there were some kind of profound shift of awareness
of the natural world, and
of our place in it.
