Featured photograph/poems from "Images of the Natural Year":
*THE WAY OF LIGHT AND SNOW*
This week, five new translations from the
DUTCH:
Snow Passage
Since it so quietly began to snow,
new distances have awakened within me.
I would like to go to every person now
and say: I wasn't like you had thought;
Perhaps they didn't feel pity for me;
they have their own pursuits.
The darkness lessens, the trees
are turning whiter around me.
One remains there standing in the loneliness,
and desire and tears pass away, its steps
disappear in the snow, at the end of the night
awaits the white morning, showered in sunlight.Gerrit Achterberg (tr. Cliff Crego)

In Politics, the

*NEW MUSIC FOR A NEW YEAR: TIMELINE*
A new addition to THE MAGIC BOX—for vibes & marimba:
Timeline's two modes of temporal movement,
linear and curved, or slow and fast, are woven together
in a complex composite.
The three main voices—the vibraphone music, the marimba music,
as well as the slow music of 80 regular pulses or steps for both

with the duo independently as separate solo pieces.
